Maserati engines are assembled by hand

Engines fitted to the Maserati Quattroporte and GranTurismo are assembled by highly skilled personnel at Ferrari’s Maranello headquarters.

The engines fitted to Maserati models are assembled at Ferrari’s Maranello headquarters.

The production of the compact and lightweight (184 kg) eight cylinder V90° engine takes place in the Engine Mounting Area where Ferrari engines are assembled. This means that Maserati engines benefit from the same level of technical excellence as Ferrari ones. To ensure that the highest standards are maintained, they are assembled, by hand, by highly trained personnel.

The production system combines the advantages hand assembly with precision electronic tools. For example a revolutionary bolt tightening system uses a special torque wrench which sends data to a central server. The server then compares the tightening values from the engine with parameters set by the technical department. The process only moves on when the values correspond exactly.

Once assembled, every engine is individually bench tested before it is sent to Maserati, in Modena, to be mounted on the car.
