Maserati engines are cast using a special metal alloy

Maserati engine cylinder heads, crankcases and crankcase panels are produced in the Ferrari foundry at Maranello.

The production of light alloy engine components for Maserati cars is entrusted to Ferrari in what is one of the most advanced aluminium alloy casting plants in the world.

The characteristics of the modern systems used in this facility make it possible to achieve precision casting geometries, and thicknesses of just 2-3 millimetres.

The components are cast in a special metal alloy with a composition based on aluminium, silicon (7%) and an extremely low percentage of iron to improve the mechanical characteristics of each individual element.
